Percussive devices such as Hypervolt deliver rapid, repeated mechanical pulses to soft tissue. Within a rehabilitation or exercise programme, they may be used on selected muscle groups to support short-term relaxation and range of movement.
What Can Be Expected?
Research suggests a possible temporary increase in flexibility in some muscles after a single application, but the number of studies is small and long-term treatment effects are unclear. The device should not be viewed as a stand-alone treatment that heals injury, permanently improves circulation or removes the cause of pain.
Treatment and Safety
The attachment, speed, pressure, duration and area are selected individually. It should not be used over bony prominences, the head, the front or side of the neck, open wounds, active inflammation or infection, acute injury, significant bruising, varicose veins or areas of sensory loss. Bleeding tendency, suspected blood clot, recent surgery or blood-thinning medication require prior assessment.
This page provides general information. Percussive therapy does not replace diagnosis-specific exercise and rehabilitation and should be planned by a trained healthcare professional.
